About

About Me:

Hi!

I'm Hannah- an INFJ and Hufflepuff with a ravenclaw-esque appreciation for knowledge! Above all, I'm a Christian who loves the Lord. If you can't tell already, I'm obsessed with books. Reading has helped me experience a thousand lives in one. Between the pages of a book, I've travelled across dimensions, witnessed the rise and fall of empires, slayed dragons, found friends, and even fallen in love, a couple of times! I also love writing and etymology and hope to publish my own books one day! Like Professor Dumbledore says, “Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.” My love for words has fueled my affinity for learning languages. I've been learning Hebrew for a few years now, and it's been amazing so far!

About the blog:

As my faith deepened over the years, I found it increasingly difficult to find books that were clean content-wise. Being in my mid-twenties now, it's a struggle to find good books with adult-style writing that doesn't have ✨spice✨or profanity. Finding books in the Biblical and Christian fiction genre was a complete game changer! Authors like Jill Eileen Smith, Tessa Afshar, and Connilyn Cosette helped me look into seemingly small instances in the Bible and experience them intimately. When I brought this up with my friends and family, they were shocked to know such a genre existed. Some of them stopped reading altogether when they couldn't find books that were both interesting and appropriate. This sparked the idea of starting a blog to help fellow readers like myself discover clean books in different genres. Clean can mean different things to different people. For me, If a book does not contain more than a handful of moderate language uses plus no spice equals clean. Being a third-culture kid, born and raised in the Middle East and of a South Asian background, I want my blog to feature books from ethnically diverse authors. The genres featured will be Biblical/ Christian fiction, Fantasy, Magic Realism, Dystopian fiction, Science Fiction, Non-fiction fiction, Medical memoirs, Mystery, Poetry, and YA/NA.  There are three things I can talk about non-stop: God, books, and mental health. I'm blessed beyond measure to have a platform where I can discuss all three. If clean books are your cup of tea, don't forget to subscribe! I promise you won't regret it.

The story behind the name:

While brainstorming ideas for the blog, I had one thing in mind, I needed my reviews, to be honest, but kind. Then the verse came to mind, “Kind words are like honey.” Thus, the honey quill was born! And, I don't know if it's just me but the initials HQ are so cute, lol! Fun fact, Honey is the name my grandma gave me. So not only does the honey quill have a scriptural touch but a personal one too!
